【摘要】:Theionicformofanion-exchangematerialaffectsbothitsequivalentmassanditsequilibriumwatercontent.Theseinturninfluencethenumericalvaluesobtainedinexchangecapacitydeterminations,indensitymeasurements,andinthesizeoftheparticles.Toprovideauniformbasisforcomparison,therefore,thesampleshouldbeconvertedtoaknownionicformbeforeanalysis.Thisprocedureprovidesfortheconversionofcation-exchangematerialstothesodiumformandanion-exchangematerialstothechlorideformpriortoanalysis.Theseformsarechosensincetheypermitsamplestobeweighedanddriedwithoutconcernforaircontaminationordecomposition.Ifotherionicformsareusedthisfactshouldbenotedinreportingtheresults.1.1Thesetestmethodscoverthedeterminationofthephysicalandchemicalpropertiesofion-exchangeresinswhenusedforthetreatmentofwater.Theyareintendedforuseintestingbothnewandusedmaterials.Thefollowingthirteentestmethodsareincluded:1.2ThevaluesstatedinSIunitsaretoberegardedasthestandard.Theinch-poundunitsgiveninparenthesesareforinformationonly.1.3Thisstandarddoesnotpurporttoaddressallofthesafetyconcerns,ifany,associatedwithitsuse.Itistheresponsibilityoftheuserofthisstandardtoestablishappropriatesafetyandhealthpracticesanddeterminetheapplicabilityofregulatorylimitationspriortouse.SpecificprecautionarystatementsaregiveninSection10.8.
